Information for Agencies with Special Needs Clients

Assiniboine Park Conservancy strives to ensure that our volunteers are representative of the community in which we serve. Volunteers from all ages, backgrounds and walks of life are welcome to the program. We believe that volunteers with intellectual and behavioural disabilities can be productive and welcome additions to our program, but do require that the volunteer and his or her support person meet the following requirements. Agencies looking to place clients with disabilities that may affect their ability to perform the duties outlined in the position description for roles within Assiniboine Park and Zoo should review the following information before completing the online application process:

• Alone or in combination with a support staff person, your client must be able to fulfill each of the duties and requirements outlined in the position description, including hourly commitments, shift schedules and all training requirements.
• If your client requires a support person, this same support staff must commit to the volunteer program as a volunteer him or herself.
• If your client requires a support person, this same support person must accompany the client through the entire process of volunteering and during all volunteer shifts.
